[[wysiwyg_imageupload:747:]]David Morrissey has been cast as the role of the Governor for Season 3 of AMC's The Walking Dead.

Morrissey will be featured as a regular next season, according to THR, which will consist of 16 episodes.

Morrissey, a British actor, appeared in The Other Boleyn Girl, the upcoming The Return of Captain Nemo, as well as an episode of Doctor Who in 2008.

Since the first announcement that Robert Kirkman's popular comic book series was to be adapted for television, fans have been clamoring for more regarding when the Governor would appear.

The Governor is the leader of a group of survivors in Woodbury; however, he is nothing like Rick Grimes. To say that that he is more of a monster than the Zombies that infest Kirkman's world would be an understatement! It should be interesting to see how faithful AMC remains to the comic book portrayal as well as interesting to see how they venture off the path that veteran readers are familiar with.

The Governor is also featured in The Walking Dead novel: Rise of the Governor
