News hit yesterday that Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises will be shooting stateside in Pittsburgh, and over yonder in London.
Pittsburgh will be used as parts of Gotham City, with Nolan confirming.
"Pittsburgh is a beautiful city," Nolan says in a statement. "We have been able to find everything we were looking for here, and I am excited to spend the summer in Pittsburgh with our final installment of Batman."
Nolan's people have already met with Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstah, who stated to the Pittsburg Post-Gazette, "We are thrilled to be welcoming the Batman film to Pittsburgh, and eager for the economic impact that our city will experience," the mayor said in a statement. "This is another example of the growing film industry in our community, and we will be rolling out the red carpet for them."
No word yet on whether Ben Roethlisberger will have a role, but one can expect the NFL quarterback to play a villain (had to throw that in there).
According to Bleeding Cool, The Dark Knight Rises will also be returning to the Senate House in Russell Square where scenes from Batman Begins where shot.
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christan Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane and Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman.
