We know that Tom Hardy will be playing Bane in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.
Fans of the comics will certainly recognise that Bane was the man to break Batman - literally!
Bane broke Batman's back in the comic book story arc from the '90s, "Knightfall," that saw the Caped Crusader down and out for about six months with a replacement, Azrael, taking over to protect the streets of Gotham.
Eventually, Bats gets healed (via a psychic healer) and has to set things right with the new Batman; Azrael goes a bit over the top and becomes too violent.
Getting back to the spoiler, Comic Book Movie states they have it on good word that Bane does, indeed, break Batman's back.
"Bruce Wayne/Batman & Bane will certainly clash hard in The Dark Knight Rises and I can tell you this much, during their first fight against one-another will , Bane WILL break Batman's back!"
Again, this is just a rumor so keep that in mind.
Does the title give us a clue? The Dark Knight RISES?
If true, we can see where this is going: Bane breaks Batman's back; Bane takes over Gotham: Batman RISES and takes down Bane, and somewhere in there Catwoman is left playing around.
Personally, I hope Nolan doesn't go this route to be honest. Not that I'm a huge Batman fan, but this brings back memories of armored Azrael Batman...eek! Of course, if anyone can make this work, Christopher Nolan can.
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christan Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra's al Ghul.
