A rumor hit the net that a 6 minute prologue for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises would be attached to the December 16th IMAX debut of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
A few days following, AMC posted that the prologue would indeed be tied to Mission Impossible -- but in 70mm IMAX theaters only, which there are only a limited number.
Now, AMC has pulled their announcement and replaced it with the following:
"The information in this post has been retracted until further notice."
Actually, MTV reports that the initial AMC pull had mention of Warner Bros, "Please refer to Warner Bros. for any information about The Dark Knight Rises", but now that seems not to be the case as AMC has taken that part down, as well.
With AMC seemingly confirming that there will be a prologue for The Dark Knight Rises attached to Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, I am hoping the redaction had more to do with the mention of 70mm IMAX theaters, as most are Digital only -- which would enable a whole heck of a lot more people to view it. However, as MTV notes, it could just be a marketing issue.
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra's al Ghul.
