It is being estimated that Cowboys & Aliens, the sci-fi alien western based on the graphic novel of the same name, will open up at $15 million with a total gross of about $40 million, which is below the $45 million that was expected, according to Deadline.
Bear in mind this is just an estimate as the movie did open today, but this can't bode well when big names such as Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig, Stephen Spielberg and Ron Howard are attached.
Of course, Iron Man's John Favreau helmed the movie as the director.
Production cost around $163-200 million, as stated by Deadline, so the 40-ish million isn't looking too good.
As Deadline notes, "Cowboys & Aliens endured a tortured 14-year development history involving more than a dozen writers."
Doesn't mean it is not going to be good, right?
