[[wysiwyg_imageupload:4312:]]Colin Trevorrow was rumored to be directing the new Star Wars movie with an old video interview seemingly supporting the notion as the director made mention of how he was going to be redoing an old favorite as well as hoped he would do it right.
While it sounds like Star Wars, Trevorrow later Tweeted that it's not, but now we know that it's Flight of the Navigator.
Colin Trevorrow will be re-writing the script with his Safety Not Guaranteed writer, Derek Connolly, for Disney's remake, with Trevorrow also possibly to direct.
The news comes to us via Variety, who has Connolly stating:
Flight of the Navigator' wasn't a seminal movie of my childhood but I remember liking it and the original meant a lot to Colin as a kid, so it's really his baby. It'll be good to have some balance so it's not two fanboys writing the movie,
Variety also mentions that Trevorrow and Connolly are already attached to Disney as they recently submitted an untitled project that is being kept under wraps.
The original Flight of the Navigator came out in 1986 and saw a 12-year-old boy in 1978 taken in an alien spacecraft only to return 8 years later without having aged and containing advanced alien information and star charts. The boy is seemingly connected to the spacecraft and at odds with various government goons.
