Fan-favorite character Agent Phil Coulson seemingly met his demise battling Loki in The Avengers movie.
Soon after, "Coulson Lives" began popping up everywhere.
Then it was announced that Clark Gregg would have a featured role in the upcoming ABC S.H.I.E.L.D TV series set to air this Fall.
As we actually didn't see Coulson's body in The Avengers movie, many just thought that the EMT's saved his life.
That might not be the case, though.
Clark Gregg recently spoke to the Collider and offered that we won't know all the details surrounding his death when S.H.I.E.L.D. debuts.
"After people see the show, they’ll have some clue as to why I’m still there, still breathing. But I don’t think they’ll know everything…" he said.
Fans have already begun speculation as to the reason for Coulson's return with the Vision being the most favorite.
Cosmic Book News will throw out another possibility and that's with The Avengers post-credit villain, Thanos.
Fans of the comic books know that the Mad Titan has a thing for a certain abstract being by the name of -- Death.
Regarding more Clark Gregg in upcoming Marvel Studios films? Could be.
"Joss is right over there. That’s a really good question. I want to go ask him. I don’t know. If my schedule doesn’t conflict, and they need him in one of the movies, will they come calling? My feeling is that there’s no breaks in continuity with this and the Marvel movie universe. It makes sense in that universe, and I certainly feel like his chances of appearing in those movies are far better than when he was far out dead."
