Those who may not be familiar with the brilliant tactician of the Guardians of the Galaxy, with Rocket Racoon, upon first viewing might think the anthropomorphic animal is nothing more than another Disney cartoon character.

Well, guess again.

Chris Pratt, starring as Peter Quill Star-Lord in the James Gunn-directed Guardians of the Galaxy movie, offers Rocket Raccoon is much more than that. The actor tells Access Hollywood that Rocket isn't a cartoon character.

"You think it’s a cartoon character, but it’s not, it’s a very real creature," Pratt said.

Pratt continues with mention there is more to Rocket.

"[Rocket Raccoon has been] tortured his whole life and no one else likes him, so he’s lonely and he’s angry and it’s like, [there are] all these elements [to the character],” Pratt said. “You sort of forget about that, you wouldn’t think about, [and] hopefully will come to life. I think it will and that’s why they hired a really good actor to do the role."

The actor Marvel Studios hired for the role happens to be Bradley Cooper.

"I could not be more excited that Bradley Cooper is voicing Rocket Raccoon, it’s a great character," Pratt offered. "It’s probably the best character in the movie, just because it’s not what you would expect."

Rocket Raccoon happens to be a favorite of James Gunn's, as well. Gunn previously stated Rocket is "the heart of the movie, is not a cartoon character, it’s not Bugs Bunny in the middle of The Avengers, it’s a real, little, somewhat mangled beast that’s alone."

The "Guardians of the Galaxy movie" has an August 1, 2014 release directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer and Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Lee Pace as Ronan, Djimon Hounsu as Korath the Pursuer, with John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, Glen Close as Nova Prime, and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon.
