Following the news that Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige said Marvel Studios will not be backing down against Batman Vs. Superman on May 6, 2016, it's now being reported that Captain America 3 will be Marvel's choice of champion.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Captain America 3 will be released on May 6, 2016 set to take on Batman Vs. Superman. It's said Marvel has high hopes for Captain America following The Avengers, similar to Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World. It's hoped Captain America will be able to sustain its own franchise following the success of The Avengers.
Captain America 3 is already in the works with "The Winter Soldier" directors Anthony and Joe Russo confirmed to return. The duo already spoke about story ideas in that they are waiting to see the reception for Captain America 2 before preceding.
Chris Evans is still under contract for two more movies following The Avengers 2, so his return seems all but guaranteed.
Batman Vs. Superman originally had a Summer 2015 release, but was moved recently to the same May 6, 2016 release date that Disney and Marvel already had in place for an untitled movie (now said to be Cap 3). Zack Snyder will be filming the movie in the coming weeks and this Summer.
A recent rumor hit the net today stating that Warner Bros. would be the ones to move the Batman Vs. Superman release date to April 29th, a week prior.
Captain America 2 has an April 4th release.
