A little over a week ago, Cosmic Book News was told by a trusted source close to Warner Bros. that Bryan Cranston "HAS" been cast as Lex Luthor in the Batman/Superman movie set to star Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman.
We were told Cranston signed a multi-picture deal, with Warner Bros. set to announce the news sometime around the final episode to Breaking Bad.
Now, the Boston Globe has caught up with the actor who says it's news to him and nothing is set.
Six? This is all news to me. I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I’m known to be bald. ‘What bald guy can we get?’ The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him.
The Globe then continues questioning Cranston asking "what if" he's been cast as Lex Luthor, and would he call up Gene Hackman for advice.
“I can just see how that phone call would go,” he said with a laugh. “‘Gene? Hi, this is Bryan Cranston.’ ‘Who? Bryan Cranston? What do you want? How did you get this number?’ ”
Cranston continues with mention that he is going to take a break for the rest of the year (Batman/Superman begins filming early 2014), hints things are in the works, but nothing is set.
I think I’ll relax the rest of the year. There’s some irons in the fire, things that people are talking about, but nothing is set.
Cranston starred with Ben Affleck in Argo, which won Best Picture at the Oscars, and is starring in the Warner Bros./Legendary co-production of Godzilla.
The sequel to "Man of Steel" goes into production next year for a July 17, 2015 release also starring Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
