Batman fans have producer Michael Uslan to thank for the dark and gritty version of the character that has been such a hit throughout the years on the big screen.
Uslan and Tim Burton brought the 1989 Batman movie to life which featured Michael Keaton, and Uslan has gone on to be a part of every Batman film ever since.
Talking with EPDaily.TV, Uslan compares the reaction to the Ben Affleck casting to his own reaction in regards to Michael Keaton being cast as Batman.
I led the charge the first time that I heard Tim [Burton] was thinking of hiring Michael Keaton. I go 'Oh, my God. All the work that I've put in all these years to do a dark and serious Batman, he is going to higher a comedian.' And I could envision the posters: 'Mr. Mom is Batman.' [I thought] 'Oh, no.' But then he explained his vision. He had a vision. He was right. This is all about Bruce Wayne. It's not all about Batman. It's all about Bruce Wayne. If you are trying to do a serious dark superhero, people have to believe in Bruce Wayne as that obsessed driven guy to the point maybe of almost being psychotic. A guy who would get dressed up as a Bat and do what he did. So we went through the hooplah of Michael Keaton. The fans had the same reaction that I did initally. Then when they went to see the movie, they never wanted anyone else to play Batman.
Uslan also compares the reaction to Heath Leger as The Joker and mentions Zack Snyder is a big fanboy of the stuff.
