Following Cosmic Book News breaking the story that Bryan Cranston has been cast in Batman Vs. Superman as Lex Luthor, we were also told Mercy Graves would be in the movie, as well.
On the heels of our news that Mercy Graves will be in Batman Vs. Superman, a rumor then hit the net about a potential love interest for Ben Affleck Batman with mention the actress needs to be physically fit leading to speculation it could be an Amazon or Wonder Woman.
Well, Mercy Graves in the comic books happens to be the right-hand to Lex Luthor, his bodyguard and chaffeur, and also an Amazon.
Now a second Batman Vs. Superman casting call seems to hint at an Amazon with mention of the actress needing to be physically strong.
Bleeding Cool thinks it could be - as was previously mentioned - Wonder Woman or the mystery role could be a potential villain (maybe Mercy Graves?). They state they heard from agents that the character in question is assumed to be Wonder Woman, but not confirmed leading to speculation it could be a female villain. Zack Snyder and David Goyer did use Antje Traue as Faora in the Man of Steel as a villain, so they could be going the same route with the use of strong female characters (and Faora can always be brought back).
It's also quite possible it could indeed be Wonder Woman as David Goyer recently said he wanted to tackle a Wonder Woman film, and most recently Chronicle scribe Max Landis stated he is pitching Warner Bros. a Wonder Woman movie, so there is definite talk surrounding the character and there has been for sometime. Two TV series surrounding Wonder Woman have either been put on hold or didn't make the grade with CW's "Amazon" and the Adrianne Palicki NBC series. There is also the fact that Goyer is the likely candidate to write Justice League.
Regarding Mercy Graves, I don't have specific information on the character in Batman Vs. Superman, whether she will be a simple chauffeur or an Amazon, or if any of the above characters are one and the same.
One name that did pop up on my radar recently happens to be Kaley Cuoco. Again, I'm not sure where she fits in (if at all), but keep an eye out.
Regarding Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor, I was told the big announcement is coming sometime around the Breaking Bad season finale to capitalize on all the hype. Breaking Bad concludes Sunday.
The sequel to "Man of Steel" goes into production next year for a July 17, 2015 release also starring Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
