Seems John Carter's midnight showing had less than a stellar debut.
And now Disney is pairing the record smashing trailer that was released last week for The Avengers with John Carter at the movie theaters this weekend.
John Carter saw only a $500,000 midnight showing, according to Deadline, who has been hammering this film on their blog, and Disney is looking for something to give the sci-fi film a bump.
Deadline states the movie is only looking at a $24-30 million gross for the weekend, with a $250 million investment. They do report, though, that John Carter opened huge in Russia to the tune of $6.5 mil, the country's biggest to date, and that it has amassed $13 million so far overseas. They note that, according to rival studios, John Carter is opening "soft" in Europe.
So does the added benefit of seeing The Avengers on the big screen entice you to go see John Carter?
