The big news to come out of last year's San Diego Comic Con was that The Avengers had assembled on stage!
This year, however, Marvel Studios will be skipping the big presentation in Hall H, which seats 6000, but will still have a presence on the floor.
Marvel Studios isn't the only one not taking advantage of Hall H - or perhaps willinging to spend the money, as Warner Bros reportedely isn't showing off Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises or Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. However, Warner Bros. does have a large television panel planned for the SDCC.
As the La Times Hero Complex notes, Marvel Studios may just be waiting for their presentation at the August Disney Con, D3 Expo, in Anaheim. Also, something is in the works for Captain America: First Avenger at an offsite location.
Thanks to CBR's Spinoff for the info.
The Avengers hits May 4th, 2012 and is directed by Joss Whedon, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
