picSeems the internet blew up when they heard that scenes from The Avengers were shot using an iPhone.

However, turns out that is not the case as the original interview misquoted The Avengers cinematographer Seamus McGarvey.

Now McGarvey comes clear as the tells THR the interview must have been edited wrong as he didn't use an iPhone, but a Canon 5d MK2.

"I was talking about how up and coming film makers have access to a whole range of new technologies which expand our options as filmmakers. I mentioned that the iPhone and the Canon 5d Mk2 were devices currently used on many Hollywood productions. I used the Canon on some shots on Marvel's The Avengers movie. Unfortunately, this was edited to read that I shot some of the film with the iPhone. This is not true."

Furthermore, Disney has also confirmed that nothing was shot with in iPhone 4 for The Avengers.

Dang, I was hoping to begin shooting that Quasar movie I always wanted. Maybe with the iPhone 5?

The Avengers assembles May 4th, 2012 and is directed by Joss Whedon, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
