It is learned that Marvel Studios and Joss Whedon will film The Avengers: Age of Ultron this month in Johannesburg, South Africa and other parts of Gauteng.
South Africa's News 24 confirms the news mentioning that action sequences will be filmed throughout the ciy, but notes that no principle actors will be present.
It's said filming in South African for The Avengers 2 will last about a couple weeks as well.
"We’re thrilled that Marvel Studios is bringing a major motion picture project to Johannesburg, and we’re committed to showing them the very best our region has to offer,” Gauteng Film Commission CEO Phindile Mbanujwa mentioned.
Fans are already speculating that this could be the location of Black Panther as in the comics the character is the leader of the African nation, Wakanda. It's possible this is where Ultron gets its armor as Wakanda is also home of the Marvel Comics fictitious metal vibranium, which is a metal that makes up part of Captain America's shield. Johannesburg happens to be known for its gold mines.
