Concept art for a 1997 Hulk movie that never came to be has been revealed by the artist, Benton Jew, and we learn the movie was set to feature the Absorbing Man as well as Billy Crudup as Bruce Banner.
The defunct 1997 Hulk movie was to be directed by Jonathan Hensleigh and not only feature the Absorbing Man, but other monsters as well.
Benton Jew provided some info on his blog as well as some Hulk movie concept art.
The "Neanderthal" Hulk was one design Benton Jew came up with the idea being "that Hulk should be to Banner, what a kitten is to a lion."
Four years later would see Ang Lee come on board with his own version of the Hulk.
Jew also worked on the 2008 Incredible Hulk with the below three storyboards.
Here's a shot of Billy Crudup as Bruce Banner and what he may have looked like as the Hulk. Seems Crudup, a stage actor, bailed on the movie because he didn't want to be "movie star."
