Darkhawk Speculated For Guardians of the Galaxy 2, But Doubtful

I would personally love if James Gunn added Darkhawk to Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but I'm highly doubting it.

When it comes to Earth heroes James has a bit of chip on his shoulder (I kid, Jimmy! sorta, lol) as Star-Lord is his "chosen one."

Gunn cut Richard Rider Nova from the first Guardians of the Galaxy script because he wanted all the attentioned centered on Star-Lord.

Darkhawk, too, is from Earth (real name, Chris Powell).

Gunn has said and replied to Nova fans numerous times (to the point of getting annoyed) that he wants Star-Lord to be his only human relatable character in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies (even though Star-Lord is half-alien and abducted at the age of eight, ahem).

The speculation regarding Darkhawk in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 comes from io9 as they point out Darkhawk is a part of the Amazon store for the movie. They think it's a big deal that Darkhawk gets his own featured button/section (though he's not listed in my browser or apparently has been switched with Yondu).

There is a Darkhawk action figure that is a part of the Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (see below), but that doesn't mean the character will be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 as the first movie's Marvel Legends line-up featured both Iron Man and Richard Rider Nova (Nova, who by the way, was the best selling figure in the line and wasn't even featured in the movie).

The inclusion of Darkhawk comes from the character being a part of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's Marvel Cosmic era that inspired the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Vance Astro is also a part of the line, but alas, he's another human hero, so I wouldn't hold out hope for a Major Victory appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 as well.

Who knows? Maybe Gunn changed his mind.

Update: Gunn responded on Twitter:

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits May 5th.
