Warner Bros. Developing The Conjuring Franchise With 4 More Movies
The paranormal genre is at an all time high with movies such as Paranormal Activity, Insidious and The Conjuring hitting it big with movie goers and at the box office.
It's now learned that Warner Bros. is moving full steam ahead with a franchise surrounding The Conjuring as it's reported that in addition to a sequel, three more spin-off movies are in the works.
The spinoff movies (via JoBlo) are said to be based on the files of Ed and Lorraine Warren, the paranormal investigators The Conjuring is based on with the first said to be a direct spinoff featuring the story about the Annabelle doll. It's unknown what the other two spinoff films will be about.
The Annabelle spinoff for The Conjuring is said to begin production as early as next month directed by John R. Leonetti.
Annabelle was the demon-possessed doll featured in The Conjuring that befriended nurses and actually still resides in the Warren's Connnecticut museum that features haunted objects.
The Amityville Horror is also based on the work of Lorraine and Ed Warren.
Ed Warren passed away in 2006.
John Zaffis of SyFy's recently cancelled The Haunted Collector studied under the Warren's and is their nephew as well.
