TWC Games: Video Games based off Horror Movies?

The Hollywood Reporter fills us in that The Weinstein Company, working with the video game production company, Beefy Media, has formed TWC Games and aims to publish video games for mobile, social, and console platforms.

The Weinstein Company, owned by Bob and Harvey Weinstein, is a film studio that broke away from Disney-Miramax in 2005, yet retained Dimension Films.

“The video game marketplace is changing at such a rapid rate.  With all of the digital platforms, there are so many opportunities to broaden our audience with compelling, high quality, cost-efficient, video game entertainment,” Bob Weinstein, co-chairman, said in a statement.

THR notes that the library for Dimension Films includes such movies such as, "Scream, Hellraiser, Halloween, Scary Movie and others."

Could we be seeing video game adaptions of these popular horror films?

The Weinstein Company is also responsible for the children's movies Sharkboy and Lava Girl and Spy Kids (with SKs 4 on the way), so that possibity is open, as well.

While we are mentioning horror movies and Hellraiser in particular, a new Clive Barker connected Hellraiser comic book was just released from Boom! Studios - with Barker on as writer. This is only the third time the master of horror has been connected to Hellraiser. You can head on over here for more information - and also read a free downloadable Hellraiser prelude comic written by Clive Barker, courtesy Boom! Studios.
