TV Review: Green Lantern: The Animated Series (Episode 6, Lost Planet)

1286 Two characters from the comic book world of Green Lantern are unleashed to marvelous joy and splendid plot and script action on this week’s Episode 6 of Green Lantern: The Animated Series, “Lost Planet.”

In search of the missing ring from a deceased Green Lantern, the four-member crew of The Interceptor arrives at a lost world a mere five minutes before its collision with an asteroid.

Hal, Kilowog, Razer and Aya use all their emerald might to halt the collision, but all they can pray to do is slow the asteroid down. Kilowog is ready to abandon the world, but Hal is intent upon finding the lost ring -- and maybe a new GL host/ally!

On the nameless world, our heroes run afoul of villains in sheep’s clothing as each is challenged. Hal almost dies at the hands of a silent, hulking alien while a noble warrior general is not exactly who Kilowog thinks him to be.

Meanwhile, Aya is knocked silly as a female alien felon takes control of the ship and its A.I. and Razer discovers a spaceship graveyard -- and Saint Walker!

The character of Saint Walker is delightful to behold in his lively battle with Razer. It is the highlight of the piece.

So too was the identity of the lost ring’s host (the second character I was discussing, which I will not mention but is easily figured out) and the method in which the planet is saved.

Again, a great space opera, with characterization and action aplenty, maturely written and excellently voiced.
