Tomb Raider Movie Looks To Get Rebooted; To Begin Immediately
MGM and GK Films have announced that work will begin immediately on a new Tomb Raider movie based on the popular video game series.
A new Tomb Raider video game was recently released which is a reboot featuring a younger version of the lead character, Lara Croft.
Variety noted that the makers of the video game are working with the filmmakers on the new movie.
No plot details about the new Tomb Raider movie are known, but they are for the video game.
Here's the video game plot description:
Tomb Raider explores the intense origin story of Lara Croft and her ascent from an untried and untested young woman to a hardened survivor. Armed only with raw instincts and the ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Lara must fight to unravel the dark history of a forgotten island to escape its relentless hold.
While it hasn't specifically been stated that Tomb Raider will be rebooted, if the video game is anything to go by, and seeing how they are actively working on the new movie, it seems like a good bet.
THR reports that development on the Tomb Raider film will begin immediately, but no casting news is available as of yet.
Angelina Jolie starred in the first Tomb Raider films which grossed a combined $432 million worldwide.
