Thor 2: First Look At New Villain - Surtur?!

4130 Alan Taylor has been filming Thor 2, "The Dark World," in London where tons of set images and video have been revealed.

We've seen Chris Hemsworth as Thor as well as a first look at Christopher Eccleston as Malekith The Accursed.

Now we get what looks to be a new villain.

Below you can check out the image, which seems to resemble the fire demon Surtur from the Marvel Comics (right).

The scene described by HollywoodNews.com suggests that this being was more of a leader -- has Surtur risen out of the depths of the Earth (where he was imprisoned by Odin in the comics) to command the army of the Dark Elves?

Interestingly enough, previous set images seemed to reveal as if something had come from out of the ground, and in addition, Christopher Eccleston was seen as if he was summoning something.

It could also very well be Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Kurse.

Thor 2: The Dark World hammers into theaters November 8th, 2013 directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones), starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin,  Idris Elba as Heimidall, Zachary Levi as Fandral and Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed, Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Kurse.

Head on over to the Cosmic Book News Thor movie hub for images, news and more.

Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
