Terrance Stamp Thinks Michael Shannon Will Be Fantastic As Zod In Superman Man of Steel

Michael Shannon as Zod was just revealed to the world in the new trailer for the new Superman movie, Man of Steel.

The enemy of Kal-El was previously portrayed by Terrance Stamp who gave an iconic performance as General Zod in the Richard Donner classics.

In a recent interview with Indiewire, Stamp goes over how he got the role and also what he feels about the upcoming new Man of Steel movie as well as Michael Shannon.

If you are not familiar with Stamp - the man - the interview is rather interesting as the actor has a unique perspective on things having delved into metaphysical studies and such.

You can read over at IndieWire how Stamp was in India at the time when the news of Superman I and II came to him, but in regards to Michael Shannon playing Zod, Stamp offered the following when told Shannon was a bit intimated.

[Flattered] Oh wow. Well, I’m sure he’s going to be fantastic because it’s a fantastic role. All I can say is he needs to be very present. When I walked onto that set I’d been in an ashram for a year, learning to separate orgasm from ejaculation. I was rechanneling the lifeforce and I hadn’t been working, and when I walked on the set, it seemed like everyone was asleep, but I was so, so ready. The only guy who was really up for it was Brando -- he totally understood where I was coming from.

Man of Steel flies into theaters June 14, 2013.
