TellTale Games Developing Marvel Console Video Games
One area Marvel is severely lacking in is console games.
While Marvel has a bunch of mobile games, they have nothing that even comes close to a Batman: Arkham game.
Maybe that will change as Marvel has partnered with TellTale Games, the maker of the popular Walking Dead video game, to develop console games based on the Marvel properties.
Polygon reports at an event in San Francisco yesterday, Marvel discussed its future gaming plans and announced the partnership with TellTale.
Marvel didn't reveal specific titles or information, but did confirm the first of the Marvel TellTale games will launch 2017.
Former Marvel Cosmic Editor and now Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann (who single handedly was responsible for placing Rocket Raccoon in the Guardians of the Galaxy comic) stated the new Marvel games will "strive for authenticity" and "will feel exquisite" and "sexy" as well as will be "celebrated by Marvel fans." Rosemann also added the games will look "eye-popping" and "feel well built and hand-crafted."
"Marvel is about storytelling," said Peter Phillips, Marvel's executive vice president and general manager for interactive and digital distribution, adding, "The Marvel brand promises heroic, complex and relatable characters."
