A producer on the new Superman movie as well as The Dark Knight Rises, Charles Roven, recently discussed the new Man of Steel movie.

Roven tells Absolute Radio how excited they are all to be working on the new movie, and when asked about footage talks about the trailer, British actors — and Batman.

Regarding the trailer, which there are two of, Roven said people are going to be surprised by what they see and how different their Superman will be.

"We call it an announcement piece because it is relatively short that's on the current Dark Knight Rises when it comes out," Roven said. "And I think people will be a little bit surprised as to what we've decided to do with it, but also recognize that we are doing something completely different and creating a Superman that has never been seen before."

Roven goes on to talk about Andrew Garfield in the Amazing Spider-Man, and how much he likes Garfield's work, then on to Henry Cavill who he states is doing an "amazing job," and finally talks about trying to make Superman a relatable character, mentioning how Batman is not a superhero.

"For us, when we were figuring out what we were going to do with Man of Steel with Superman, we really wanted to make sure because he really is a superhero. Batman is not a superhero, he's human. He does extraordinary things, but he is really human. So how do you relate to somebody who has super powers? And that's really what we focused on. We knew we were going to give that film also a great deal of spectacle, and fun, and action.  But we really wanted to make the character even though he has super powers very compelling emotionally to people."
