Superman Batman Man of Steel 2 Could Draw Inspiration From World's Finest & Public Enemies
Rumor mills are working overtime in regards to what Zack Snyder, David Goyer and Warner Bros. are doing with their Superman/Batman movie for the Man of Steel sequel.
Cosmic Book News kicked things off with mention that 25-year-old Tyler Hoechlin will be having a screen test with Superman Henry Cavill in the near future, in addition to the news that a lot will be building up to Justice League movie (previous to the announcement of The Flash TV series).
We've been telling you for some time that a Justice League movie was in the works for 2015/16, which by all accounts seemed to be the case, but recently Zack Snyder stated that he has to follow the direction Warner Bros. wants to go - and that looks exactly why we have Superman/Batman film set for 2015.
It was also recently rumored that Zack Snyder may be looking for an older 40-ish year old actor for the Batman reboot, which included mention of Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling; however, the same report stressed that casting has yet to begin.
Now the latest regarding Superman/Batman and the Man of Steel sequel is that it looks as if casting, indeed, does have yet to begin as Zack Snyder currently is setting his sights on the official title for the movie, with the SupermanHomePage stating it could be inspired from "World's Finest" and/or "Public Enemies."
If you recall, recently David Goyer made comments at Comic-Con suggesting the title could very well be "Batman Vs. Superman," which hasn't been taken lightly by the Man of Steel fans.
Obviously calling the movie a "versus" film calls forth depictions of Batman beating Superman (just because The Caped Crusader is the more popular). Something to the affect of a "World's Finest" or "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies" suggests the duo team up, which will inevitably happen in the movie.
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies was a 2009 staight-to-video animated movie, based on the Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness graphic novel, that saw Superman and Batman take on the president of the United States, Lex Luthor.
There have been various incarnations of "World's Finest" ranging from the 1941 original that saw Superman and Batman team, to the Dave Gibbons comic book series featuring The Joker and Lex Luthor as their adversaries.
Superman/Batman, the sequel to Man of Steel, goes into production next year for a 2015 release starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
