It's learned that the Supergirl TV series has landed at CBS, which was the only network without a superhero series.

It's said the new Supergirl TV series will be an hour long and feature 24-year-old Kara Zor-El, cousin to Superman, which sees the character begin her journey already having powers.

Deadline has a further description in that Kara Zor-El was born on Krypton and arrived on Earth hiding her powers, but now decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

As previously mentioned, the series will be from Arrow and The Flash EP Greg Berlani as well as Ali Adler. DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns will also be involved.

It's also stated the Supergirl commitment given by CBS is bigger than the Fox commitment for the Batman prequel series, Gotham, which is a good sign and shows how invested CBS is with Supergirl and the character.

Laura Vandervoort most recently played Supergirl in the Smallville series, and Zack Snyder included a Supergirl Easter Egg in Man of Steel.
