We can cross another name off the list of potential directors to helm Star Wars Episode VII in 2015.

Brad Bird has been a favorite amongst fans to direct the new Star Wars movie with a viral campaign video even created by a YouTube user.

However, while Bird's next project will be science-fiction movie, it won't be Star Wars.

Brad Bird let the information be known through his Twitter account when asked:

Nope. A science fiction film. Not Star Wars.

But the science fiction film I AM doing is gonna be cool.

I'm just doing "1952"!

That said, Michael Arndt is a fantastic writer and Kathy Kennedy is a brilliant producer. I will be first in line to see the new STAR WARS

1952 is Brad Bird's new film that is set to see George Clooney as the lead. It's said to be in the vein of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and sees a middle-aged man in contact with aliens.
