Star Wars: Episode VII To Film In Iceland

It's reported that Star Wars: Episode VII will film in Iceland beginning at the end of April.

No specific details are known, but Visir.is reports that reps for the film are scouting locations with mention of possibly filming in the highlands and glacier areas of Iceland.

It's also said the Iceland shoot may be used as backgrounds for Star Wars: Episode VII, which may mean the images could be taken to the studio for green screen fill-ins such as was recently done by J.J. Abrams for Star Trek Into Darkness.

The report also states the actors and crew could be in Iceland for a longer stay, but news is hard to come by as the Iceland film management has signed confidentiality agreements.

Obviously the Iceland set would bring up comparisons to the Battle of Hoth from Empire Strikes Back, which was filmed in Norway, but no known plot details about Episode VII are as of yet.

Thor 2 was also in part filmed in Iceland as was Game of Thrones.

"Star Wars: Episode VII" has a December 18, 2015 release.
