Body

star trek The as-of-yet unnamed J.J. Abrams directed Star Trek sequel has an official release date of May 17th, 2013, and will be in 3D.

Deadline informs us that Sony moved Roland Emmerich’s Singularity from that date to November 2013, and in turn Paramount nabbed it.

As The Collider notes, the sequel will see competition from Sony's Pixels, with Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim opening one week prior, and Fast and Furious 6 opening the following week.

In related news, the composer on the first Star Trek, Michael Giacchino, will be returning for the sequel, as reported by ComingSoon.net. Giacchino is also doing the score for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, which Abrams is producing.
