Star Trek 3 Gets Two New Writers: Kurtzman Out

Both Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof will not be back for Star Trek 3 as it's reported that joining Bob Orci is two new writers with newcomers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay.

There is no release date or title for Star Trek 3, but it's thought it will be released in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary in 2016.

J.J. Abrams will also not be back due to Star Wars, but the latest rumor has Attack of the Block director Joe Cornish being eyed.

It's noted by THR that both Payne and McKay do have a relationship with Abrams as they wrote the script for Boilerplate.

I can't say I'm sad to see Kurtzman, Lindelof and Abrams go as I thought Star Trek Into Darkness was awful.
