Rumored Meteor For Batman/Superman Man of Steel 2: Kryptonite, Doomsday, Metallo or Brainiac?

With Detroit Michigan being confirmed as a filming location for the as-of-yet untitled Batman/Superman movie, sequel to Man of Steel, it was previously said that scenes would also be filmed in Toronto and Morocco.

Now rumor hits the net that Morocco actually might be the location where Zack Snyder films a meteor crash.

ContactMusic notes: "...possible jaunts to Morocco to film the meteor crash scenes."

With mention of a meteor as well as the sequel looking highly likely to feature Lex Luthor, the question of kryptonite automatically has to be brought up.

Obviously, kryptonite was featured as a plot device in the previous Superman movies, and Snyder even said as much in a previous interview.

Via EW:

“I’ll be honest with you, there’s no Kryptonite in the movie,” says director Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) Those glowing green space rocks – Superman’s only crippling weakness – have turned up so often as a plot point in movies, the only fresh option was not to use it. Anyway, if you want to make an audience relate to a character, a galactic allergy isn’t the way to do it.

It's possible that Goyer and Snyder could be coming up with a new approach to Kryptonite instead of having it be a weakness to Superman, because in the Man of Steel the rock wasn't the weakness -- it was the Kryptonian atmosphere.

Cosmic Book News can speculate that perhaps kryptonite doesn't hurt Superman, but empowers humans? Possible characters used could be Metallo.

Of course it's quite possible the meteor might actually be something living; how about Doomsday? Maybe Doomsday will crash land on the Earth leading Luthor gaining control of it etc.

Another possibility is the meteor could be Brainiac as many think Zod's technology or perhaps the Kyrptonian tech was inspired by or used Brainiac designs.

Regardless, as long as Goyer and Snyder don't recreate Otis and the Gene Hackman Lex Luthor, I'll be happy.

Let's also not forget Zod's corpse could somehow come into play (update: and armor).

The sequel to "Man of Steel" goes into production next year for a July 17, 2015 release also starring Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
