Rocket Raccoon and Groot Rumored Not To Be Focus of the Guardians of the Galaxy Movie

Body

3501 Fans who are familiar with both Rocket Raccoon and Groot absolutely adore the characters and hold them in the highest esteem.

Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning personified the duo in their 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy comic book, with scribe Keith Giffen adding support as well.

Rocket Raccoon, in particular, has seen an increase in popularity as he's appeared in the Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 video game, Disney XD Avengers toon and the latest has Rocket front and center on an exclusive New York Comic-Con mug with art by Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada.

We also know that Rocket Raccoon is a personal favorite of Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige.

However, apparently that doesn't mean Rocket will blast off and become the main star of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie; ditto with Groot.

3502 Latino Review has word that Marvel Studios is focusing on the three humanoid characters from the concept art that was released, Star-Lord, Drax The Destroyer and Gamora. Star-Lord will be the obvious featured character with Drax and Gamora lending support as they tie into the main villain and the villain from The Avengers 2 -- Thanos.

It's stated that the characters "are getting visual and backstory updates to meld them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

It's noted that this makes sense seeing how Groot and Rocket Raccoon will most likely be CGI.

Also there is mention of Gamora's ties to not only Adam Warlock (not the first time) -- but Nova as well, as in the concept art there appears to resemble Nova Corps insignias. So we just may see both of them.

On a side note, the synopsis for Thor 2, "The Dark World," was released which reveals another possible big-time Marvel Cosmic villain. Will Thor 2 tie into the Guardians of the Galaxy movie?

The Avengers 2 assembles May 1, 2015 with Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013, Thor: The Dark World on November 8, 2013, Captain America: Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014, and the Guardians of the Galaxy movie on August 1, 2014.
