Rise of the Planet of the Apes Sequel Confirmed

picWith the success The Rise Of The Planet of the Apes has brought, grossing over $430 million worldwide, a sequel was a sure bet.

Previously, Director Ruper Wyatt mentioned ideas for the sequel.

Now, we learn that Fox has signed Andy Serkis to a seven figure deal to reprise the role of Ceasar in the sequel to the Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Serkis was the man behind bringing the CGI Ape Ceasar to life, as well as Gollum in Lord of the Rings. In addition, Fox will "wage an Oscar campaign for Andy Serkis for Rise of the Planet of the Apes."

Wyatt's contract included a sequel clause so he will be returning as well. In regards to James Franco and Freida Pinto's return, that is still up in the air as it appears to depend on the script, which will come from the screenwriters who worked on Rise of the Apes, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

Serkis can also be found as Captain Haddock in Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of TinTin.

Cosmic Book News will keep you updated when more becomes available.
