Body

The great run of writer Jason Aaron on Thor, God of Thunder continues in excellent fashion this week with the fourth chapter of “The Last Days of Midgard.”

In the present, ROXXON continues its polluting ways, using the laws of our land as a shield (pun intended) against the threats and actions of the Thunder God, newly returned to Earth from Infinity. But Thor is not one to just stand around, and goes on the stealth to investigate the situation – much to the chagrin of SHIELD Agent Roz (growing on me) Solomon.

I was looking forward to a little more Thor vs. Ulik like the old days, but maybe that is coming in our climax. The troll brute barely says howdy do this ish, and THAT is to Roz. C’mon, Jason!

In the possible future, meanwhile, readers are rewarded as the granddaughters of King Thor finally cut loose with weapons most familiar. There battle against Old Galactus is what you hope for in these kind of cases.

And Jason has a surprise toward the end of the future saga, one you may not have thought of but will welcome nonetheless if you have been with this book since the beginning. Well played, Mr. Aaron.

The art on Thor, God of Thunder has been excellent or better since #1, and this issue continues that trend. The granddaughters are gorgeous and explosive, and artist Esad Ribic’s trolls are off the chart!

Again, a cool issue with a great cosmic slant.
