Review: Static Shock #1 (McDaniel & Rozum)
Static Shock is pretty much just what I expected it to be, an eletrically charged version of Peter Parker.
It is something I would not ordinarily have picked up, but with the New 52, I have decided to give them all a go.
I was more than happy with this one, as both story and art far surpassed by expectations.
Our hero, 16 year old Virgil Hawkins, stops a robbery at Star Labs, his place of employment, and with that a sinister group of villains take notice and decides to take Static out!
Along the way we are given some interesting dialogue, as McDaniel and Rozum have Static providing scientific explantion as to just how his powers work. I felt they gave just the right amount, didn't go too overboard, and balanced it with the thoughts of a brazen young teenager. It definitely works.
The issue is a heck of a lot of fun, a great read, and the art is just as fantastic.
I can say that, yes, I will be continuing with the series.
