Review: Shadowland: Daughters of the Shadow #3
Shadowland: Daughters of the Shadow #3 PREVIEW WRITER: Jason Henderson ARTIST: Ivan Rodriguez COLORS: Jorge Maese LETTERS: Dave Sharpe COVER: Jean-Baptiste Andreae PUBLISHER: Marvel RELEASE DATE: November 10th, 2010 Though I enjoyed the first two issues of this mini, especially the life-threatening cliff hanger from issue two, it was the lack of follow through from issue two that was a disappointment! Our hero, Colleen Wing, was left bleeding on the floor after having her throat slit by Lotus for betraying the Nail and Daredevil himself. But as we begin issue three, Colleen is running from her former teammates and speaking quite clearly for one that has just had her throat slashed. By the sixth page even the blood on her costume has disappeared, so apparently she ran through a dry cleaners somewhere in the bowels of Shadowland! I am a stickler for consistency so right off the bat I was annoyed, but Henderson still wrote a good story and the annoyance faded as the issue went on. Betrayals, revelations and a new team emerges as we continue along Henderson's journey and for the worst issue of the mini it was still a good read; far better than any of the Shadowland one-shots! I don't want to give away any of the surprises, so let's keep it short and sweet. Cool female ninja battles, intriguing characters and really good art to accompany a good story; what else can you ask for? A possible continuation for Colleen and her new team? Well, no one ends a story with "The End?" unless it's a possibility! Well, no one except the director of the Flash Gordon movie apparently! If you can see past the blatant inconsistencies than you will still be able to enjoy a good read, especially if you have become a fan of Colleen Wing and the Nail as I have. I do hope that Henderson will have the fan base to continue her story because it is a rich one and one that deserves to be fleshed out. I will be waiting in line whenever Ms. Wing and her team get the chance to do battle with the Nail again, hopefully it will be sooner than later!
