Predator Reboot In The Works From Iron Man 3 Director Shane Black

The director of the billion dollar blockbuster Iron Man 3 is rebooting the Predator franchise with Fox.

Update: The new Predator is not a reboot.

THR has it that Shane Black will also write the treatment for the new Predator, and then will hand over writing chores to Fred Dekkerwhome he co-wrote 1987’s Monster Squad with. 

It's also said John Davis, who produced the original Predator, is back producing the reboot. 

Interestingly enough, Shane Black actually was asked to help write the original Predator numerous times, but he wasn't interested. Fox Studios even went so far as to temp Black with a small role in the movie, and when he was flown to the South American jungle set, they asked him again - but Black still said no.

The original Predator hit theaters in 1987 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and spawned sequels and movies battling Aliens.

Last Summer saw a Predator teaser image released at the SDCC which brought up renewed interest in the films, but the teaser image turned out to be for a 3D Blu-Ray.
