It was previously announced that Paranormal Activity 5 had been green lit for an October 2013 release, and now it's official.

The fifth movie in the franchise (actually sixth if you count the upcoming Spring 2013 Latino movie), has an October 25, 2013 release date, just in time for Halloween.

Not much is known about the plot other than it's been said Paranormal Activity 5 will move the plot forward.

Oren Peli and Jason Blum from the previous films will be back on as producers.

The latest flick, Paranormal Activity 4, only did around $30 million at the box office, which is a low number for the series. All things considered, it's still a good number as the movies cost only around $3-5 million to make.

CosmicBookNews.com's movie reviewer, Lawrence Napoli, offered in his review for Paranormal Activity 4:

Let’s not mince words: Paranormal Activity 4 is another fun little “found footage” horror flick, but clearly a step in the wrong direction of franchise fatigue.  The audience is clamoring for a new perspective on this tiring formula.

Hopefully Lawrence is right and they give us something new for the next Paranormal Activity.
