DefTone Picture Studios has released the highly anticipated trailer to their epic alien sci-fi film, Ombis.

Cosmic Book News has been covering this upcoming indie film with interviews and set visits, and now courtesy of Igorslab.com we have the first official trailer.

And it's awesome.

In addition, we get a first look at the alien Nemesis (right) that comes to Earth to eradicate the Ombis virus — irregardless of what stands in his path.

Including mankind.

The look of the Nemesis alien, played by Rich Winiatowski, has been kept under tight wraps on the set with no pictures allowed. What we do know is that the Nemesis stands over 7 feet tall, and with the following trailer, we now get a taste of what could be humanity's decimation — or last hope.

Ombis blasts into theaters October 13th, 2013 and is helmed by visionary director Adam R. Steigart, executive produced by Mike Sciabarrasi, and stars Richard Satterwhite (CBS's Three Rivers), Jason John Beebe, Melyssa Jade, and Kevin Tanski (The Dark Knight Rises), with cameos by Lynn Lowry (The Crazies, Cat People), Tim Shaw (Ghost Hunters, Black Cat Lounge), and Erie County, NY Comptroller David Shenk.

Synopsis:

Ombis is a 1950's styled sci-fi movie set in modern times. It's the tale of an invasion of an alien virus which lands via meteorite in the small town of Metzburgh. Metzburgh is a former industrial town whose glory days are long past but whose residents are carrying on with their daily lives: loving each other and living life as best they can. In the midst of this idealistic backdrop, enter the hideous virus Ombis, which is intent on taking over the planet Earth and changing its residents into a host for a new species.

The only thing that can stop Ombis is Nemesis, an alien from the same home planet as the virus who was sent here to contain the alien scourge. The Nemesis' disregard for the human race puts him in a position to ensure that the Ombis virus will be eradicated since he doesn't care about collateral damage and will use any means necessary to destroy his enemy. The real story of Ombis, however, is the human struggle of the residents of Metzburgh: to fight for their village and for their very survival.

Ombis is based on a short story by Adam R. Steigert and was written by Steigert (Directors), Janeen Avery, Mark Mendola, and Terry Kimmel. The cast features Richard Satterwhite (Sheriff Thomas Brackett), Sara Manzella (Lucy), Jason John Beebe (Mark), and Alexander Sloan McBryde (Mr. Gray).
