No. There Will Not Be A Director's Cut For The Dark Knight Rises
A previous rumor to have hit the net was that Christopher Nolan was going to release a director's cut for The Dark Knight Rises in conjunction with the release of the new Superman movie, Man of Steel.
It was said to feature around 30 minutes of extra footage, including the cut scene that was Bane's origin.
However, The Playlist has received word from sources close to Christopher Nolan's camp that the rumor is "completely false" and that "no such plans exist."
As of yet, no official details on The Dark Knight Rises Blu-Ray DVD have become known, but as the Playlist suggests, it might be made available around Christmas time.
I actually wouldn't mind seeing further footage; the Bane origin sounds particularly interesting, and I think a few scenes need to be "cleaned up."
Batman coming back to Gotham City from the Prison is one, and I would have liked to see more with the death of Matthew Modine's character.
Also, more from the Gotham PD Vs. Bane's mercenaries that was shot in NYC would be good, too.
The Dark Knight Rises opens in theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra's al Ghul.
