We finally have a definitive answer whether or not Gambit will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Following the news that Rupert Wyatt will be directing the Gambit movie, Channing Tatum took part in a Reddit fan Q&A where the actor was asked if he was going to appear in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Tatum responded with: "No ma'am, or sir. I Definitely will not."

Tatum continued by answering a second question about Gambit with talk of Rupert Wyatt coming on board and mention Gambit will be different than the Marvel movies which feature popular characters.

"We finally found someone that I really believe wants to make Gambit, it will be the second standalone character. And I just really think because Gambit is not the most popular or the biggest hero, I think there's a really unique opportunity. Marvel's done a lot of great movies that have made a ridiculous amount of money, and it's always good to figure how to change the form."

X-Men: Apocalypse has a May 27, 2016 release; Gambit has an October 7, 2016 release.
