For the first time since 2010, the BBC will not be bringing Doctor Who to the San Diego Comic-Con.

Instead, the BBC is taking Doctor Who on a world tour where the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi, will first appear with Jenna Coleman in the U.S. on August 14th in NYC.

Reps for the BBC confirmed the news to the Unofficial SDCC Blog.

The world tour will see Capaldi, Coleman and showrunner Steven Moffat visit seven cities on five continents promoting the new season of Doctor Who.

It's noted that the BBC will still have a booth at this year's SDCC.

"Doctor Who" Season 8 premiers this August.
