New Marvel Multiplayer Online Battle Arena Game Coming To Asia

Body

Battle arena type movies, comic books and video games are all the rage as of late, and now Marvel is entering the foray - once again - with a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game aimed for Asia.

With movies like Hunger Games and of course the Japanese cult hit Battle Royale (watch it on Neflix!), we've seen a number of new similar titles. Marvel recently announced Avengers Arena and DC Comics Threshold, both of which sport the "kill or be killed in 24 hours theme."

While not many details are known about the new Marvel MOBA game, and I'll be honest I'm not familair with the format so the comparison above may not apply, but we learn that Marvel has partnered with Korean developer, Smilegate, to develop a MOBA title based on the Marvel characters.

According to MMOCulture, the new Marvel MOBA, codenamed "Project PK," is in development and has a 2014 release.

Also in development from Marvel is the free-to-play Marvel MMO, Marvel Heroes.

Here's a pic of Marvel VP of Game Production TQ Jefferson with a rep from Smilegate.
