New Infinity Stone Confirmed For Guardians of the Galaxy Movie

Spoilers follow for Thor 2.

Marvel Cosmic comic books fans are familair with the Infinity Gems and the Infinity Gauntlet as the six spheres give the wielder power over the soul, time, space, mind, reality and power.

As learned in Thor 2, however, Marvel Studios isn't specifically going that route. It was made known in the mid-credit scene for Thor 2 that the Tesseract (thought to be the Cosmic Cube) is an Infinity Stone. Also, if the mid-credit scene didn't make it clear, what The Collector was given was actually the Aether, and Kevin Feige confirms it's an Infinity Stone as well.

Screen Rant caught up with Kevin Feige, with the interviewer bringing up the Infinity Gems and the colors, but Feige offers that isn't exactly how it will play out in the movies. Obviously, now that we know the Tesseract and the Aether are Infinity Stones, we see Marvel Studios is going more the route the "Infinity Gems" are actually powerful objects.

"It was always the plan to show the Tesseract was indeed an Infinity Stone as was the Aether," Feige said. "A lot of that will tie first into Guardians of the Galaxy, which comes out next year, and then where it goes from there we'll see."

The interviewer continues with mention of an orb in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, inquring if it's time or space with Feige saying he wouldn't attribute them to color.

"Here is what I would say: I would not necessarily attribute them based on color. Because you are close, but you are not 100% right on what each one is," said Feige.

Feige then questions the interviewer on how he knew about the orb, with Screen Rant replying his editor visited the Guardians of the Galaxy movie set.

"The maguffin from Guardians certainly plays into maguffins from the past," Feige offered.

Interestingly enough, a recent Guardians of the Galaxy movie poster that was stated to be fan art features an orb.

Fan art or leaked orb art?
