M.E. Byron Brewer receives Ann Bolton Bevins Award
(Editor's Note: CBN would like to extend a special congrats to Byron! The offices wouldn't be the same without ya!)
Byron Brewer, managing editor of Cosmic Book News and creator of The Wonder Worlock prose comic series, received a non-comics honor Friday night at the Georgetown & Scott County Museum Annual Banquet in Kentucky.
The Ann Bolton Bevins Award is presented to one person each year in recognition of their efforts to preserve and record the community's history. The award is regarded as the "Oscar" of the history scene in Scott County.
Historian Bevins made a special appearance at the banquet to present her old friend, CBN's "Captain Cosmic," with the award. Also in attendance were Byron's close friends, Nick and Nina Clooney, parents of screen star George Clooney.
Byron was editor of several Georgetown newspapers for 19 years and continues to write a weekly column in the local press, "My Georgetown."
Byron is a frequent writer for CBN as well as M.E., contributing regular comic book reviews (mainly the Avengers franchise), the twice-weekly What the D'ast and irregular Brewer Report columns, as well as occasional character features.
"I love writing, and that includes my duties in the CBN offices," he said. "I would especially like to thank Matt McGloin, Bill Meneese and Darren Blackburn for their contributions to my continuing fan-comics career."
