Matt Ryan has been cast as Constantine in the new NBC TV series from Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer and Mentalist executive producer Daniel Cerone.

Ryan, an English actor, is known for roles on Criminal Minds as well as the voice and motion capture of Edward Kenway in the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag video game.

Constantine is described as having studied the occult for some time, and when the daughter of a late friend is targeted by Demons, he steps in to save her. The comic books describe Constantine as a magician, con-man and detective.

Cerone is writing the script with Goyer executive producing Constantine, and Neill Marshall (Game of Thrones) is directing the pilot.

Constantine has previously been described as scary, dark and interesting by an NBC executive.
