Marvel vs. Capcom 4 Said To Be In Development
According to Polygon, sources filled them in that Marvel Vs. Capcom 4 is in active devlopment and will be released some time in 2017.
It's also again said that the official announcement for Marvel Vs. Capcom 4 by Campcom will come at this weekend's Playstation Experience event where the Capcom Cup 2016 Street Fighter 5 tournament is being held.
It's further said Marvel Vs Capcom 4 will feature only the Disney-owned Marvel film/TV characters, meaning the likes of Fantastic Four and X-Men (film rights owned by Fox Studios) are out.*
It's said to expect to see characters from The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy films in Marvel Vs. Capcom 4, including Ant-Man and Groot, while characters from X-Men, such as Wolverine and Magneto (and Deadpool), will be absent.
As noted, earlier this year saw Marvel Games vice president Jay Ong state that Marvel is well aware of fan interest in the Marvel Vs. Capcom video games.
*I believe the reason the X-Men won't be featured in a new Marvel Vs. Capcom 4 video game is because Marvel Gaming falls under the control of Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter who is known for fueding with Fox Studios and going so far as to cancel comic books and merchandise featuring the Fox Marvel characters. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also doesn't get along with Perlmutter, which is the reason Marvel movies is completely separate from Marvel TV and the Comics, of which Feige fired from being involved in the Marvel films.
