M. Night Shyamalan Kneels Before Zod: After Earth Moves One More Week Away From Man of Steel Debut
Today we learned that Columbia Pictures moved up the premiere date for Will Smith and M. Night Shyamalan's After Earth to May 31st.
After Earth had an original opening date of June 7th, pitting the Man of Steel against it's second weekend debut.
The move to May 31st now gives After Earth a full two weeks to rake in tickets sales before the new Zack Snyder Superman movie explodes on to the scene June 14th.
After Earth also stars Jade Smith and sees a crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity's escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.
Man of Steel opens June 14th in IMAX 3D starring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and Michael Shannon as Zod.
